This dataset is a GIS version of the surficial geology line features for the Fort Chipewyan area, Alberta (NTS 74L) , as mapped at 1:250,000 scale by L.A. Bayrock (Alberta Geological Survey Map 141).

Attributes were verified using check plots that were then compared to the original map. Attributes errors found by visual examination were corrected.
Logical Consistency Report:
Glacial flutings and drumlin long axes were digitized in the direction of the ice flow (i.e., arcs point down-ice). Channel scarps were digitized so that the channel they bound is on the right-hand side of the arc. The other features represent non-topological, linear features that may cross.
Completeness Report:
All linear glacial features were digitized from the source map except the drumlins, which were captured in a separate file (see cross-references section).

Process Description:
A scanned image of the original map (jpg) was georeferenced against the hydrography coverage data and rectified in ArcInfo. Approximately 30 control points were used to register the image. Features were digitized in 'heads-up' mode in ArcEdit and tagged with their descriptive attributes according to the map legend.
